Cluster tables and table pools are special table types in the ABAP Dictionary. Data from several tables is stored in a table pool / table cluster. These tables are used exclusively for storing internal control information (parameters, screen sequences, temporary data, documentation, etc). Data stored in a custer table is compressed using a proprietory format and can only be accessed by the SAP kernel. With S/4HANA, cluster tables are obsolete.
